Exhibition Project - Affect AHO during December
Summary: Design a social event, an installation, decorate the building or in some way affect the space you live in and engage the people at AHO during December. The theme for your project is presence (nærvær).
Deadline: Friday 24.11.
Duration: 2 weeks
Budget: 10.000,- NOK
Background
Contemporary interaction design practice looks beyond the interactions between a single user and a digital device. It is increasingly concerned with embodied, social, tangible and architectural implications of new technologies. The aim of this project is to introduce you to the area of physical interaction (sensing the environment, processing data, and affecting the tangible world). You will gain an understanding of how context and physical actions can be used in our design process, and how we can create new interactive experiences in our embodied and social world.
Project managment
The class has to choose a management team. They will share the responsibility of progress, economy, coordination with the admin at Aho, as well as finding an sponsor (if needed). They will also report to Daniel and Mosse during the project.
You may also choose to have a creative director and one to lead a technology group, or if you prefer; several independent design teams that co-operate.
You have access to Stig Skjelvik for 20 hours to help you out with electronic challenges and conceptual advice.
Learning goals
• A basic understanding of designing interactive experiences in public space
• Introduction to physical computing and embodied interaction
• Teamwork in complex context
Evaluation criteria
• Concept originality
• How well you affect and engage people using social and physical interaction
• Your ability to simplify (possibly fake or create illusions) a richer user experience
• Design an experience which need no or few instructions
