Processing tasks and examples for week 3
Explore behaviors and reactions with multiple animated objects on screen. Choose either task 3.1 or 3.2 and work in groups of 2.
3.1 Screen saver
Redesign and/or animate some of the tasks from the last week and make it into a screen saver. You could try playing with typography as well. Or you could explore sensing noise or motion to affect the experience, when you leave/enter the computer.
Sketch and describe a well-defined expressive goal before you begin.
3.2 Interactive toy
Inspired by multiple objects and the collision examples, create a generative screen toy. Design different rules for how the toy behaves when the user is inactive and when the user is active.
Your design should have a user-friendly interface to control or affect the toy with both indirect and direct manipulation. Focus on simple behaviors with relevant and interesting reactions.
We recommend task 3.2 if you want to explore playable prototypes for the game-design task next week.
